The bear heard it. He stopped looking for food in their campsite and turned to look in the
direction of the noise. He saw them and took a step in their direction.
Luke continued to keep Daisy behind him. “Keep moving backward,” he said. “Keep quiet.
Don’t make eye contact with him.”

Austin and Daisy did as Luke told them.
By this time though, the bear was mad. He could only find one cookie to eat that was left
on the picnic table. And he was still hungry. Where there was one cookie, there should
be more. He thought maybe those kids might have some other food.
