He took another step toward them and reared up on his hind legs. His brown nose twitched
as he sniffed the air. Somewhere he smelled something that smelled like it would be good
to eat.
The bear lurched toward the kids who were still moving quietly, but steadily, backward.

Further back on the hiking trail, Daisy could hear the rest of the family coming toward the
campsite. She yelled as loud as she could, “Daddy! Help! There’s a bear!!!”
The noise startled the bear. He took several more hulking steps toward them and began
growling loudly. He showed his teeth and they were long and sharp.
